Directions

1. Coat tooth surface to be restored with etchant (37% orthophosphoric acid gel)
2. Allow etchant to remain on tooth surface for amount of time indicated by manufacturer.
3. Rinse etchant from tooth surface for amount of time indicated by manufacturer.
4. Dry area for amount of time indicated by manufacturer.
5. Tooth surface will appear chalky white if tooth has been etched for the appropriate amount of time.
6. Place bonding or restorative material on tooth surface, depending on procedure being completed.

 

image Special Notes/Helpful Hints • Etch time must be extended for primary teeth due to the irregularly shaped enamel rods. • Etch time must be extended for tooth surfaces recently treated with fluoride. • Variances occur in the percentage of orthophosphoric acid, depending on the manufacturer of the etchant. If an etchant has a lower percentage of orthophosphoric acid the etch time will increase, while a higher percentage of orthophosphoric acid will decrease the etch time.

• Bonding system
• Disposable applicator (Microbrush)
• Dappen dish or mixing dish
• Restorative instruments
• Curing light

Directions

1. Etch prepared tooth structure with 37% phosphoric acid gel.
2. Rinse tooth with water, ensuring all etchant has been removed, and dry surface gently with a stream of compressed air.
3. Apply primer to etched tooth surface with Microbrush. Blow tooth surface gently with compressed air, if indicated by the manufacturer.
4. Apply bonding to tooth surface with Microbrush. Thin material with a light puff of compressed air, and then light cure.
5. Place restorative material in prepared tooth structure.
