2. Rinse tooth with water, ensuring all etchant has been removed, and dry surface gently with a stream of compressed air.
3. Apply primer to etched tooth surface with Microbrush. Blow tooth surface gently with compressed air, if indicated by the manufacturer.

Special Notes/Helpful Hints • Etch time must be extended for primary teeth due to the irregularly shaped enamel rods. • Etch time must be extended for tooth surfaces recently treated with fluoride. • Variances occur in the percentage of orthophosphoric acid, depending on the manufacturer of the etchant. If an etchant has a lower percentage of orthophosphoric acid the etch time will increase, while a higher percentage of orthophosphoric acid will decrease the etch time.
