Unusual complications of orthognathic surgery patients

Background: Post-operative reported complications in orthognathic surgery are mainly local. General complications are scarce and usually respiratory.

Objectives: To report three cases of orthognathic surgery patients, who developed extremely unusual general complications.

Method: Cases report.

Results: Two patients developed vascular complications (DVT) and one patient developed transient myopia. The aetiology of these complications is discussed and recommendations for prevention and treatment are mentioned.
