Minimally invasive technique using an innovative dental implant for sinus lift procedures

Background and objectives: To describe an endoscopic technique applicable to dental implantation and sinus lift procedures using a newly developed dental implant – the dynamic implant valve approach.

Methods: Closed sinus lift procedure with collagen materials or jelly bone substitutes was performed using the dynamic implant with or without the modular implant endoscope device. The procedure was performed from bone level of 3 mm and above. Osseointegrated implant were evaluated clinically and radiographically over a follow up period up to one year.

Results: 48 cases are reported. Details of the technique will be described. The newly developed implant with an inner sealing screw allows direct visualization of the maxillary sinus membrane with an endoscope and collagen materials or jelly bone substitutes filling. Elevation of the maxillary sinus membrane and augmentation was performed in a simple, minimally invasive fashion. Advantages will be described.

Conclusion: Minimally invasive technique for closed sinus lift procedures with special implant design with or without endoscopic assistance can prevent from lateral open sinus lift procedure.
