Objective: This study aimed to found the effective site in the nasal vestibule which can give a cogent support to maintain the postoperative shape and guide the development of alar cartilage with the nasal retainer, by means of investigating the shape and structure of the nasal vestibule in Chinese children and take the initial measurement.
Methods: Obtained the simple model of nasal vestibule in 15 cases children with mild cleft palate alone, between the ages of 7–24 months, under general anaesthesia, with silicone rubber impression materials; observed and measured the gypsum model and analyzed statistically the measurement results.
Results: Nasal vestibular fornix is the highest site of the nasal vestibule and its height is less variation than the notril which is the common site in clinics.
Conclusion: Nasal vestibule is an ideal supporting site to maintain the postoperative shape for the patients with nasal deformities of cleft lip and palate.
