Abstract
This chapter is based on three portraits and one self-portrait by one of the most influential and inventive artists of the last century: Man Ray. He had a special sensitivity with regard to the positioning and lighting of subjects for photographic portraits and developed, probably unconsciously, a personal approach to highlighting facial features.
