Dr Larry White is a well-respected clinician, author, and educator. He has authored or contributed to several books, published numerous articles, and edited several professional publications. He is currently on the faculty of the orthodontic department of Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas.
His new book, Orthodontic Pearls , is a compilation of some of the best and most useful clinical ideas that orthodontists around the world use to simplify and improve their patient care.
The book is highly engaging and hard to put down because of the originality and ingenuity of many of these pearls. There are tips on diagnosis and treatment planning, biomechanics, laboratory procedures, patient compliance, as well as staff and office management suggestions.
The figures are almost uniformly of high quality, and the accompanying narratives provide excellent explanations of the illustrated procedures.
The author stated that he purposely has no chapters or structural organization to the book. Although we understand that categorizing the numerous ideas would be difficult, grouping the ideas by broad concepts would have aided the interested reader who wants to refer back and find a particular pearl.
This book will be an invaluable and often-used addition to every orthodontist’s library. It represents the most complete collection of orthodontic technique tips ever and will serve as an excellent resource for clinicians trying to solve a particular clinical problem or just looking for better ways to treat their patients.
