17.1 Introduction of the Case
Case of complicated internal morphology managed with selective primary root canal treatment approach using bioactive materials.
17.1.1 Patient Information
- Age: 38‐year‐old
- Gender: Female
- Medical history: Noncontributory
17.1.2 Tooth Information
17.1.2.1 Identification
Left maxillary lateral incisor (Tooth 22)
17.1.2.2 Dental History
Chief complaint: Patient reported with a chief complaint of moderate sensitivity around tooth 22.
Clinical Examination Findings
Tooth 11 was not mobile. Palpation was positive more buccally than palatally. Cold test was positive. Patient had normal general health conditions. Probing depth was within normal limits (Figure 17.1).
17.1.2.3 Investigations
- Preoperative diagnostic assessment
- Preoperative radiological assessment
Preoperative radiograph showed complex internal morphology of the tooth (Figure 17.2). Lateral radiolucency can be seen on the mesial aspect of the root.
- Cone Beam Computed Tomography
To confirm the complex internal morphology, cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) (CS 8100 3D, Carestream, Onex Corporation, Toronto, Ontario, Canada) was carried out (Figure 17.3).
