I want to thank Drs Isaacson and Thom for responding to my column as they did. Obviously, my articles are geared to litigation and legislation in the United States, although at times I have attempted to be more global. I applaud you guys on the other side of the pond, since you have always been ahead of us in areas like this, particularly clinical guidelines. I can only hope that those involved in our governance will take heed of what meaningful guidelines, such as those in the United Kingdom, can be. Of course, I agree with you 100%, and I wrote what I did in an attempt to notify not only our membership, but also our policy makers about what I saw as clinical and ethical shortcomings in response to a concern voiced by one of our readers. Keep up the good work over there; we all need a really good role model every now and then.
