Antiplatelets
- Consider coordinating with physician and surgeon to establish a plan regarding adjusting antiplatelets for an elective procedure, balancing the risk between re‐thrombosis and perioperative hemostasis
- If antiplatelets and/or anticoagulants are to be continued perioperatively, consider the following local hemostasis techniques:
- Local anesthetics with vasoconstrictors
- Hemostatic agents
- Topical thrombin
- Oxidized cellulose (Surgicel®)
- Absorbable gelatin (GelFoam®)
- Absorbable collagen (CollaTape®)
- Primary closure
- Cautery
- Staging the procedure
Cyclooxygenase (COX) Inhibitors (NSAIDs)
