Surgical modifications of forehead and orbital area in facial feminization

Many surgical procedures are used to approach facial feminization in transgender surgery (male to female). All the facial areas play surely an important role in the transformation but the most important changes are the privilege of forehead and orbital surgeries.

We approach forehead and orbital area with the subperiosteal dissection of the face by coronal and buccal incisions (mask lift). That technique we used from 24 years allows to correct forehead, cheek bone and orbits in only one operation. In that paper, we review coronal incision (pre or intra capillar), forehead osseous surgery (contouring, osteotomies, prosthesis), forehead soft tissues surgery (hair line adjusting, muscular management, lipofilling), orbital surgery (contouring, enophthalmos, exophthalmos, asymmetries, latero canthale changes) and cheek bone surgery.
