Secondary versustertiary alveolar cleft grafting—a compartive assessment of outcome

The timing of alveolar cleft grafting has been subjected to considerable debate between surgeons. Secondary cleft grafting has been supported by many authors however tertiary grafting cases still participate in cleft care practice. This study attempts to provide a comparative outcome assessment between 12 patients who received alveolar cleft grafting. These patients were equally distributed among two study groups representing secondary and tertiary alveolar cleft grafting respectively. Cone beam tomography was utilized to impart the volumetric aspect of the appraisal. Both groups were followed up for one year. The comparison between the outcome will be presented in this disclosure.
