Squamous cell carcinoma of maxillary sinus is difficult for treatment from the influence to the internal organ that adjoins. We report a case of squamous cell carcinoma of maxillary sinus of local advanced treated by multidisciplinary therapy.

A 61-years-old woman visited us with stage IV disease of squamous cell carcinoma of maxillary sinus. PET-CT showed abnormality accumulation (SUV 48.02) of left maxillary sinus and no other abnormal accumulation.

She was treated by three cycles of docetaxel (DTX) 75 mg/m ² /day, cisplatin (CDDP) 100 mg/m ² /day, and 5-flurouracil (5-FU) 1000 mg/m ² /day (TPF) induction chemotherapy and then en-block resection. Induction TPF consisted of DTX 75 mg/m ² (3-h i.v. infusion day 1) followed by CDDP 100 mg/m ² (2-h i.v. infusion day 1) and 5-FU 1000 mg/m ² (96 h continuous i.v. infusion, starting after the CDDP infusion). Cycles were repeated every 3 weeks.

Chemoradiotherapy Weekly carboplatin 150 mg/body + 66 Gy was performed after the surgery because the tumor was recognized to the resection edge from pathological report. There has been no evidence of recurrence and metastasis as 3 years after surgery.
