Box 3.1 Indications for biopsy

Indications for biopsy include lesions that:

  • have neoplastic or potentially malignant features
  • are enlarging
  • persist > 3 weeks
  • are of uncertain etiology
  • fail to respond to treatment
  • cause concern.
